The Klaviyo alternative for businesses whose customers are on WhatsApp
Zappio is a Klaviyo alternative for businesses whose customers are on WhatsApp: email and WhatsApp steps run in the same journey from one customer profile, with consent and a frequency cap checked for each channel before every send, and Meta's WhatsApp charges are paid to Meta with nothing added. Klaviyo has more email tools today, including a drag-and-drop editor and AI; on 26 September 2026 its pricing page showed a free plan for 250 active profiles and paid email from $20 a month for 500, in US dollars. Zappio's email is quoted for your list size.
Klaviyo figures checked on 26 September 2026 on its pricing page and calculator, features page, WhatsApp page and Helpdesk page, and help-centre articles on WhatsApp billing, mobile messaging rates, billing and exporting lists.
Comparing Klaviyo alternatives because your customers are on WhatsApp as well as email? Here are the two side by side, with Klaviyo's own published prices and where Klaviyo is the better choice.
Zappio is made by TABSYST, with offices in India and Dubai (UAE). It is a WhatsApp Business API platform with a shared inbox, chatbots and automation, broadcasts and bookings, and it now includes email marketing (called Engage inside the app). Klaviyo describes itself as a B2C CRM; its site (see its features page) lists email, SMS, RCS, mobile push, WhatsApp and social marketing among its products.
The short answer
Choose Klaviyo if email is your main channel and you want its full email toolset now, or you need SMS, RCS or mobile push. Choose Zappio if your customers are on WhatsApp and you want WhatsApp and email in the same journeys, a team answering replies in one inbox, prices in rupees or dirhams, and Meta's charges paid to Meta. Run both if Klaviyo already works for your email and what you are missing is WhatsApp.
Klaviyo pricing in 2026, in plain terms
On 26 September 2026 Klaviyo's pricing page showed a free plan, then paid products you add together, in US dollars; its US and UK versions offered no rupee or dirham prices.
The free plan
Up to 250 active profiles and 500 email sends a month, plus $5 of mobile messages and $5 of Composer (one of Klaviyo's AI agents) a month, with email support for the first 60 days.
Email, priced on active profiles
Email comes with every paid plan and is priced on active profiles, which Klaviyo's billing guide defines as any profile that can be emailed, whatever its consent status. The calculator showed:
| Active profiles | Emails a month | Price a month |
|---|---|---|
| 500 | 5,000 | $20 |
| 1,500 | 15,000 | $45 |
| 5,000 | 50,000 | $100 |
| 15,000 | 150,000 | $350 |
Above 150,000 active profiles, it says to talk to sales. You move up a tier automatically as active profiles grow, and the billing guide says plans are billed monthly, in advance.
Add-ons
Composer is $20 a month; mobile messages (SMS, MMS, WhatsApp and RCS) are a monthly dollar plan bought upfront. Reviews is $25 a month at 250 orders, and Customer Hub, social marketing, Helpdesk and other add-ons are priced separately.

The Klaviyo column is from its pricing page, features page, WhatsApp page, Helpdesk page and billing guide on 26 September 2026; the Zappio column is what ships today.

WhatsApp on Klaviyo and on Zappio
Klaviyo sends WhatsApp natively: its WhatsApp page lists marketing, utility and service messages from a verified WhatsApp Business Account. It also notes that Meta does not currently support WhatsApp marketing messages to US phone numbers, a Meta rule that applies on Zappio too.
The difference is how you pay. Klaviyo's WhatsApp billing article and mobile messaging FAQ say messages come out of a Mobile Messaging plan bought upfront each month in dollars, at a rate set by message type and country, lower on larger plans; its billing guide says unused dollars do not carry over. On Zappio you pay Meta directly at Meta's published rates, and Zappio adds nothing to them; the Zappio plan fee (below) is separate.
| Marketing message | Klaviyo, per send | Meta's rate, paid to Meta on Zappio (plan fee separate) |
|---|---|---|
| To India | $0.023 at 1,000 a month; $0.019 at 10,000 | $0.0118 on Meta's dollar card (₹0.8631 on its rupee card), unchanged on 1 October 2026 |
| To the UAE | $0.073 at 1,000 a month; $0.063 at 10,000 | $0.0499 until 30 September 2026, $0.0576 from 1 October 2026 (AED 0.1832, then AED 0.2115, on its dirham card) |
Klaviyo's figures are from the calculator on its pricing page on 26 September 2026, with no other mobile messages in the plan. Meta's are from the cards on its pricing page, effective 1 July and 1 October 2026; the dirham is pegged at 3.6725 to the US dollar. The columns are not like for like: Klaviyo's rate is its whole charge for the message, while on Zappio Meta's rate comes on top of the Zappio plan.
From 1 October 2026 Meta also charges service messages after the first 1,000 delivered per business phone number a month, and utility templates sent inside an open 24-hour window; see WhatsApp API pricing.
When Klaviyo is the better choice
Klaviyo is the better fit if one of these is you (figures from its pricing page and features page, 26 September 2026).
- Email is your main channel and you want the full toolset now. Klaviyo lists a drag-and-drop editor, AI for segments, content and flows, product recommendations, RFM analysis and benchmarks against 100 peer brands. Zappio's email has none of these; its editor is HTML.
- You need SMS, MMS, RCS or mobile push. Zappio's plans include none of them.
- Most of your customers are in the US. Meta does not currently support WhatsApp marketing messages to US numbers, whichever provider you use. Klaviyo's SMS can reach them.
- You want a free plan. Klaviyo has one; Zappio has a 14-day free trial of Standard instead.
- You need an integration Zappio doesn't have. Klaviyo lists 350+.
- You want monthly billing and self-serve sign-up. Zappio is set up with you, and its shortest WhatsApp plan term is a quarter, paid upfront.
Where Zappio fits better
- Your customers are on WhatsApp. WhatsApp is Zappio's core, with broadcasts, chatbots, bookings with reminders and a shared inbox on Meta's official API; email is built around it.
- WhatsApp and email in one journey. Klaviyo's flows can include WhatsApp too. On Zappio, a journey can remind people who started checkout by email and then on WhatsApp, with that person's consent and frequency cap checked for each channel before every send (by default 1 marketing message a day and 3 a week on each channel). WhatsApp steps reach only people with WhatsApp consent, from a Zappio signup form, an import or your team. See email automation.
- A team answers the replies. WhatsApp replies, and Instagram and Messenger replies on Standard and above, land in one shared inbox, with 6 seats included on Standard. Email replies go to the reply-to address you set.
- Setup done with you. We create the workspace, connect your number and submit your first WhatsApp templates with you, at no charge, usually the same day; Meta's template review can take up to 24 hours. Email is switched on in the same setup.
Running Zappio alongside Klaviyo
One way to split it: keep Klaviyo for email and use Zappio for WhatsApp broadcasts, chatbots, bookings and the shared inbox. A number connected to Klaviyo can move to Zappio through Meta's Embedded Signup (Zappio asks for the number's two-step verification PIN if it has one). There is no ready-made Klaviyo connector, so profiles move by CSV, and WhatsApp consent comes across only if your import includes it. Each system keeps its own consent records and frequency caps, so neither counts the other's sends.
Switching from Klaviyo
Plan the move before your next Klaviyo billing date.
- Export your profiles. Klaviyo's help centre shows how to export a list or segment to CSV, with consent status. A list or segment CSV does not include event data, such as orders.
- Import profiles and past orders. Zappio imports both from CSV. If your store is on Shopify or WooCommerce, the connector brings in past customers and orders itself; leave unsubscribed and bounced addresses out of any CSV.
- Connect your store. The connectors also send started-checkout events, so a checkout reminder can run from day one; add-to-cart events need your store's tracking code.
- Set up sending. Use Zappio's shared sending (up to 1,000 marketing emails a day, with your business name and reply-to), or your own domain through your own SMTP server or Mailgun, with DNS records from a wizard and a warm-up from 200 to 50,000 emails a day over about two weeks.
- Rebuild your flows. Flows and templates do not move over automatically; start from the 6 ready-made journeys and add WhatsApp steps where they help.
Checking other Klaviyo competitors
Whichever Klaviyo competitors you shortlist, compare how the email price grows with contacts, who sets the WhatsApp rate, the billing currency and term, and who does the setup. For WhatsApp platforms, see Zappio vs Wati.
Coming next
Committed for Zappio's email, with no dates; none is part of the product until it ships.
- A drag-and-drop email editor.
- AI help with subject lines and copy.
- A/B tests on campaigns (journeys already have a random split).
- Product blocks in emails, and abandoned-cart emails that show the items left behind.

WhatsApp plans are published. Standard is ₹4,000/month on a yearly term, or ₹5,000/month billed quarterly, plus 18% GST, with 6 seats included, and Meta's message charges are paid to Meta directly. Every plan and term is on Zappio pricing.
Klaviyo alternative: questions people ask
It depends where your customers read messages. If they are on WhatsApp and you want both channels in the same journeys, priced in rupees, Zappio is built for that. If email is your main channel and you need drag-and-drop, AI or SMS today, Klaviyo may suit you better. We don't rank other providers.
Klaviyo's pricing page showed every price in US dollars on 26 September 2026, with no rupee option. Its billing guide says WhatsApp fees and currency may vary by region and plan type. Zappio's plans are priced in rupees, dirhams or US dollars.
Yes. Klaviyo's WhatsApp page (26 September 2026) lists marketing, utility and service messages, and notes that Meta does not currently support WhatsApp marketing messages to US numbers. Its billing article says messages are charged at per-country dollar rates from a Mobile Messaging plan bought upfront.
Not for everyone. Zappio's email covers campaigns, email-and-WhatsApp journeys, segments, signup forms, predicted fields, send-time optimisation and revenue reports. Its plans include no SMS or push, and it has no reviews or benchmarks; the Coming next items are not built. If you rely on those, keep Klaviyo or run both.
Yes. Keep Klaviyo for email and use Zappio for WhatsApp, with Meta paid directly. Profiles move by CSV, and each system keeps its own consent records and frequency caps, so neither counts the other's sends.
Export lists or segments from Klaviyo to CSV, with consent status, as its help centre shows, and import them into Zappio. If your store is on Shopify or WooCommerce, the connector brings in past customers and orders itself. Then set up sending. Flows and templates are rebuilt in Zappio, starting from the 6 ready-made journeys.
